What's Happening at PSI
Here's the latest on what everyone is up to:
- Delighted to announce that PSI has received notice that we were selected for a three year Approved Contractor Scheme Standing Offer contract with New Zealand Aid. As you know, the tender call for these contracts is open to contractors world wide and we included our relationship with QLBS as an advantage for NZAid.
Congrats to Asif, Hubert and Larry who put their CVs forward for this competition. Our team is looking forward to visiting the QLBS team on assignments.
- Elena, our student intern from Russia, is very pleased to be a new Canadian. The Mountie looks pretty pleased too ...
Everyone at PSI agrees that Elena will be a real asset to Canada.

Oksana (now at Brooking Institute) following Elena's swearing in as a new
Canadian.
- Pamela worked on the UNDP evaluation, conducted monitoring missions to the Regional AIDS Training Network and co-facilitated a workshop on project planning with United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLGA) with Hubert.
- Bjorn was lead economist on the UNDP evaluation, visiting several countries in Africa. He is now working for Trade Canada.
- Larry is working hard with PSI associate firm QLBS on criteria to evaluate and bench mark microfinance institutions as well as a streamlined institutional assessment tool.
- Asif has spent most of this year as the rapporteur to the UN High Level Commission on integrating the informal sector. He also has assignments pending in the Pacific Islands.
- Hubert was lead evaluator of the Africa Local Government Program and his work led to an assignment facilitating project planning with UCLGA. He is currently on his way to Burundi, helping the American
firm from Burlington Vt, Associates in Rural Development, in preparing a bid on a USAID RFP in policy governance of the Burundian government.
- Jane is working for the Digital Opportunity Trust (an ITC for development initiative) part time and enjoying life (see below).
- Richard was team leader for the UNDP Evaluation, and continues to be very active in his role as the Head of External Relations for CAIDC.
- Tom completed his evaluation of the Center for Corporate Governance in Africa with Alfred Ojwang of associate firm MICRODE Consult. He has now purchased a new Mercedes, while Alfred has taken a position as regional education advisor for CIDA in East Africa.
- Derek continues to offshore payroll services to developing countries.

Pam reports that Bunchi Bags can hold up to 40 lbs.
No Bunchi Bags were damaged in the course of this experiment. This one is still in use (for more conventional activities).
